Supreme Court Declines Immediate Hearing on Petition Over Police Action Against CJP Student Protesters
CJI Surya Kant rejects request for urgent listing, says the matter should follow the Supreme Court's regular hearing process.

Supreme Court CJP Protest took centre stage on Wednesday after the Supreme Court declined an urgent hearing on a plea challenging police action against CJP student protesters.
Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, while responding to the request for an urgent listing, remarked that the court’s time should not be spent on matters that do not warrant such priority. The Bench advised the petitioner to follow the regular legal process instead of seeking an expedited hearing.
The plea reportedly questioned the police action taken against students involved in the protest and sought urgent judicial intervention. However, the court refused to alter the normal listing schedule.
With the request for an immediate hearing rejected, the petition is expected to proceed through the Supreme Court’s standard judicial process in accordance with existing procedures.
