PM Modi Shares Sanskrit Verse Highlighting Gratitude and Selfless Service

Drawing a parallel with the coconut tree, the Prime Minister emphasises the importance of remembering kindness and honouring the sacrifices of great souls through lifelong dedication.

New Delhi- Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday shared a Sanskrit verse highlighting the enduring values of gratitude, benevolence and selfless service, using the example of a coconut tree to illustrate how noble individuals remember the help they receive and continue to serve others throughout their lives.

In a message shared on social media, Modi quoted a traditional Sanskrit Subhashitam that compares the coconut tree’s lifelong contribution to humanity with the conduct of virtuous people who never forget the kindness shown to them.

The verse describes how a coconut tree, despite receiving only a small amount of water during its early growth, continues to provide sweet water to people throughout its lifetime, even while bearing a heavy crown of coconuts.

Drawing from this analogy, the message highlights that truly noble individuals remain grateful for the sacrifices, dedication and efforts of those who have contributed to their lives. Such gratitude, the verse suggests, is expressed not merely through words but through actions, commitment and service.

The Prime Minister’s message also underlines the importance of remembering the contributions of great personalities and aligning one’s life with their ideals. Their sacrifices and dedication serve as lasting examples that can inspire individuals to work for the larger good of society.

The Sanskrit saying conveys that gratitude is a lasting virtue rather than a temporary expression of appreciation. It encourages people to acknowledge the support they have received and repay that goodwill by helping others and remaining committed to values that benefit society.

Through the verse, the message draws attention to the role of humility, remembrance and selfless contribution in shaping individual character and strengthening social bonds.
