Faridabad, October 21: Former Union Minister and senior Congress leader Chaudhary Birender Singh on Wednesday launched a sharp attack on the Haryana government, accusing it of misleading the public with promises and failing to deliver tangible development on the ground during the second year of its third term. He alleged that BJP leaders were making hollow statements and creating divisions among people along caste and community lines to disturb social harmony. He asserted that the Congress would not allow the BJP to succeed in its alleged attempts.
Birender Singh was addressing a press conference at the District Congress Committee office in Sector 9, Faridabad, as part of the party’s assessment of the BJP government’s alleged failures after two years in office. District Congress Committee president Baljit Kaushik was also present and welcomed Singh along with party workers.

Recalling Faridabad’s industrial legacy, Singh said that even before the formation of Haryana, when Faridabad was part of undivided Punjab, the then government had envisioned developing the city as an industrial hub on the lines of Ludhiana. After Haryana was formed, he said, Congress governments developed Faridabad into a major industrial centre that gained recognition on the world map.
However, he alleged that the BJP government had turned Faridabad into a dumping ground. Criticising the government’s Smart City claims, he described the city’s condition as that of a “Nark City”, alleging that heaps of garbage could be seen at various locations, residents were forced to consume contaminated water and people were breathing polluted air.

Singh alleged that despite making major development promises in its election manifesto, the BJP government had failed to address key public concerns. He claimed that young people were struggling to find employment and were protesting on the streets, while farmers were being let down over the issue of minimum support price (MSP).
He also alleged that instead of improving educational standards, the government was shutting down government schools. Raising concerns over law and order, he claimed that the situation had deteriorated and that Faridabad had witnessed a significant rise in crime.
The Congress leader further claimed that around 90 per cent of Haryana’s population was unhappy with the BJP’s ideology and style of functioning.
Referring to Haryana’s financial position, Singh said the state’s debt stood at approximately ₹70,000 crore in 2014 but had now risen to more than ₹4 lakh crore. He also questioned claims about India’s position in the global economy, asserting that the country’s economy ranked eighth or ninth in the world, contrary to the BJP’s claims that it had reached third place.
Raising the issue of an alleged IDFC Bank scam, Singh claimed that a fraud involving ₹590 crore had taken place and alleged that the money belonged to the public. He accused the government of attempting to suppress the matter through what he described as superficial action.

The allegations were made by Singh during the Congress press conference and were not independently verified in the statement provided.
Several Congress leaders and party workers attended the event, including senior leader Chaudhary Chand Singh, advocate Jagat Singh Nagar, Dr. S.L.
