CJP Protest March Near Parliament: Police Stop Demonstrators as Centre Opens Dialogue

New Delhi: Tension escalated in the national capital on Monday as members and supporters of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) marched towards Parliament during their “Chalo Parliament” campaign, demanding action on issues related to the education system and accountability.

Protesters advanced through central Delhi before being stopped by security personnel near the Parliament complex. Barricades were erected at multiple locations, including areas around Sansad Marg and Raisina Road, where police prevented demonstrators from proceeding further.

As the crowd attempted to move ahead, police used batons to disperse the protesters. Some participants reportedly sustained minor injuries and were given first aid at the protest site. Tear gas shells were also used to control the gathering after the situation became tense.

The demonstration prompted heightened security arrangements across central Delhi. Several roads witnessed restrictions, while Delhi Metro temporarily closed entry and exit at a few stations as a precautionary measure. Services at some stations were later restored after the security assessment.

Amid the ongoing protest, the CJP announced that the Centre had initiated communication with the organisation. According to party representatives, spokespersons Ashutosh Ranka and Sourav Das are scheduled to meet Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda to present the group’s demands.

Meanwhile, climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has been on an extended hunger strike, issued a fresh message from Safdarjung Hospital. He stated that he would be willing to end his fast if the government accepts responsibility for shortcomings in the education system or if Members of Parliament agree to raise the issue during the ongoing Monsoon Session.

The protest has emerged as one of the major political developments outside Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session, with demonstrators continuing to press for reforms through peaceful mobilisation and dialogue.
