New Delhi: 05 June: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Cooperation Minister Shri Ravinder Indraj Singh carried out a tree plantation drive at the RCS office located on Sansad Marg. Shri Ravinder Indraj stated that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s campaign “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” and Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment), tree plantations are being undertaken across all offices of the Social Welfare, SC/ST Welfare, Elections, and Cooperation departments.
Prior to this, the Social Welfare Minister also participated in plantation drives along with local residents at Rohini Sector 23 and Sector 24, the Sports Complex and Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Prahladpur and the Government Senior Secondary Boys School in Pooth Khurd, Bawana.
Shri Ravinder Indraj emphasized that to achieve the goal of “Viksit Delhi – Viksit Bharat,” it is imperative to embrace environment-friendly lifestyles as envisioned under Mission LiFE by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. He highlighted that energy conservation, water saving, avoiding single-use plastics, reducing e-waste and other forms of waste, adopting eco-friendly diets, and practicing yoga for a healthier life are crucial steps toward a sustainable and developed society and nation.
The Minister remarked that plantation alone is not enough – trees must be nurtured like one would care for a daughter. Considering the needs of both the present and the future, people should plant trees that are fruitful, provide shade, and generate high oxygen levels. He encouraged the planting of trees such as Neem, Peepal, Banyan, Amla, Kadamba, and Jamun.
