New Delhi : In light of the Beating Retreat Ceremony set to take place at Vijay Chowk in New Delhi today, the Delhi Police have implemented detailed traffic arrangements to ensure smooth movement of commuters and secure the event area. According to the traffic advisory, significant restrictions will be in place, particularly from 2 PM to 9:30 PM.
Vijay Chowk will be completely closed to general traffic during this period. Additionally, no traffic will be permitted on Raisina Road from the Krishi Bhawan roundabout and the Sunehri Masjid roundabouts heading toward Vijay Chowk. These restrictions are also applicable to sections of Rafi Marg, including the Sunehri Masjid and Krishi Bhawan roundabouts, leading up to Vijay Chowk.
Further restrictions will be enforced on Kartvyapath, specifically between Vijay Chowk and “the C” hexagon, cutting off access to the event area from several directions. As a result, commuters are urged to plan their travel around these areas.
The advisory also recommends taking alternative routes to avoid delays. Vehicles are advised to use Ring Road, Ridge Road, Aurobindo Marg, Madarsa “T” Point, Rani Jhansi Road, and Minto Road as viable detour options. These routes are expected to provide smoother access to other parts of the city without hindering the flow of traffic near the event.
Delhi Police have urged the public to adhere strictly to the traffic advisory and follow any further updates from authorities on the day of the ceremony. The Beating Retreat Ceremony, a key annual event marking the conclusion of Republic Day celebrations, will see large crowds and dignitaries, requiring additional security and traffic management to ensure safety and order.
Motorists planning to travel through central New Delhi today should prepare for potential disruptions, particularly in the vicinity of Vijay Chowk, and allow for extra travel time.
