JDU to Hold Workers’ Conference in Uttar Pradesh’s Rohania on November 1

Bihar Rural Development Minister Shravan Kumar reviews preparations as JDU plans to expand its presence ahead of the UP Assembly elections.

Patna: The Janata Dal (United) is preparing to strengthen its organisational presence in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, with a workers’ conference scheduled for November 1 in the Rohania Assembly constituency of Varanasi district. Bihar Rural Development and Information and Public Relations Minister Shravan Kumar, who is also the leader of the JDU Legislature Party and the party’s organisational in-charge for UP, chaired a meeting in Rohania to review preparations for the conference.

Local leaders and workers discussed the event’s arrangements and programme. He said the conference would mark the beginning of the party’s electoral campaign in UP. Under its proposed strategy, the JDU plans to organise conferences at the mandal level and establish direct contact with workers across the organisational structure.

The party will also identify constituencies where it believes it has a strong organisational base and electoral prospects. He said the party was continuously expanding its presence in UP and would launch an outreach campaign to communicate its policies and the public welfare initiatives undertaken under the leadership of former Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.

He added that the work carried out in Bihar would be highlighted among people in UP and expressed confidence that the November 1 conference would be significant for the party’s preparations for the upcoming elections. During his visit, he also went to the ancestral home of the late Harishchandra Verma, a renowned social worker from UP and a recipient of the President’s Award, in Ramraipur village, which falls under the Rohania constituency.

He met Verma’s family members and paid his respects. Verma had undertaken a cycle journey from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 1990, for which he received the President’s Award. He passed away recently.

Santosh Patel, Sachchidanand Brahmachari, Vijay Patel, Sunil Kashyap, Awadhesh Singh, Sanjay Singh Patel and Sushil Patel were among those present at the meeting.
