Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation of Manav Rachna and Eco Club Faridabad spread awareness on World Environment Day

Faridabad, Haryana, June 5, 2024– In a significant gathering on World Environment Day, the Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation, in collaboration with the Eco Club Faridabad, hosted an enlightening seminar on the theme ‘Sustainability for Environment’. The event brought together prominent environmentalists, educators, and representatives from various Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) of Faridabad. The seminar aimed to raise awareness and discuss initiatives for improving environmental conditions.

Dr. N.C. Wadhwa, Vice Chairman of the Dr. O.P. Bhalla Foundation, reflected on the current state of the environment and proposed measures for improvement, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural resources for future generations, as our ancestors did for us.

Ms. Akanksha Tanwar, Regional Officer of the Pollution Control Board in Ballabhgarh, highlighted urbanization, uncontrolled development, and population growth as key factors in the exploitation of natural resources. She introduced the Miyawaki technique to enhance greenery and stressed the benefits of carpooling, efficient water use, and recycling for environmental conservation.

Sh. Shyam Sundar Kapoor, National President of the All India Forum of MSME, advocated for strict penalties for environmental polluters and encouraged the practice of planting trees on birthdays. Anil Kumar Chaudhary, National General Secretary, suggested that industries could support environmental protection through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Associate Prof. Dr. Mehak Sharma, Dept of Nutrition and Dietetics, MRIIRS discussed the importance of sustainable food and diets, while Dr. Shilpi Gupta from the Central Ground Water Authority (CGWA) provided insights into rainwater harvesting.

Eco Club President Neeta Gupta emphasized simple water conservation methods, such as reusing RO and AC water and using buckets instead of hoses for washing cars. Dr. Preeti Rao from the Bio-Enzyme Entrepreneurs Academy of India highlighted the importance of bio enzymes. Dr. Nidhi Didwania from the Manav Rachna Centre for Medicinal Plant Pathology educated attendees on the benefits and care of medicinal plants. Eco Club members Shalini Agarwal and Sonali Saraswat addressed sustainable electricity and waste management. Motivational speaker Dr. Pankaj Grover underscored the importance of being aware of both rights and responsibilities in environmental stewardship.

The seminar concluded with a strong call to action, urging all participants to integrate sustainable practices into their daily lives and communities. The distribution of Tulsi plants and jute bags served as a reminder of the small, impactful steps individuals can take toward environmental stewardship.
