4th Haryana State Finswimming Championship Concludes Successfully in Faridabad

Faridabad : The two-day 4th Finswimming championship was conducted by Underwater Sports Association Of Haryana in association with PEFI ( Physical education foundation of India) on 1st and 2nd June 2024 at Faridabad, Haryana.

The two-Day Mega Finswimming Competition which was held at Modern School, Sector 17, Faridabad was supported by. PEFI Physical Education Foundation Of India (recognized by Ministry Of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government Of India) & Underwater Sports Federation Of India

There was overwhelming participation of finswimmers from different Districts of Haryana. The Championship started at 8:45 am on 1st June and continued on 2nd June from 07:00 am onwards.

The peak summer season, when the temperature was touching 47 and 48 degrees Celsius, did not deter the finswimmers from various Districts to participate in the different events of the Championship. The event was very well arranged by the organisers in as much as there was no problem of continued supply of drinking water and other hydrating solution to cope with the rising temperature. Adequate arrangement was also made for providing free food, transportation & lodging for all the outstation participants & coaches. Medical facilities were also made available at the venue during the Finswimming event.


The Secretary General of Underwater Sports Federation Of India (USFI), Dronacharya Awardee Dr. Tapan Kumar Panigrahi along with the respective state heads were also present in order to motivate and guide the finswimmers during this 4th Mega Finswimming Championship event.
Mr R K Singh, Mr Anil Deep Mahal, Mr Debu Rana, Mr Kankan Panigrahi & Mr Ram Rawat were nominated as observers by USFI and were present during the Finswimming event.

There was a tough competition among the finswimmers who reached the Final round on Sunday, 2nd June where all Finswimmers from different districts of Haryana participated and demonstrated their excellence.

The Finswimming Championship was categorized age group wise and event of 50 meters (Men/Women/Girls/Boys), 100/200/400 meters (Bi-Fins & Relay) etc.

Mrs Sikha (SDM, Faridabad), Dr Prabal Roy (Chairman Accord Super specialty Hospital, Faridabad), Dr Ashim Das (Dean, ESIC, Alwar), Mr A K Mishra (Educative Director, Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd., Faridabad), Mr U S Sahi (ED, NHPC, Faridabad), Mr Sanjay Kumar Verma (GM, HR, Power Grid Corporation Of India, Faridabad), Mr Ramesh Kumar Gupta (National Treasurer, VHP), Mr Manmohan Gupta (President, District Swimming Association , Faridabad), Mr Deep Bhatia (President, Underwater Sports Association Of Haryana), Dr. A K Bansal (Dronacharya Awardee, Hockey) & President,PEFI, Dr Piyush Jain (Secretary, PEFI, New Delhi were among the Guests present during the Championship.

On the occasion of closing ceremony on 2nd June, Mrs Sikha, SDM She also congratulated the organizers of the two-day 4th Haryana State Finswimming Championship for organizing such a mega competition even in such hot weather and making the championship a success by providing all facilities to the participants as well as the audiences.
Mr Ramesh Kumar Gupta of Viswa Hindu Parishad and a Patron of Underwater Sports Federation Of India Congratulated the children who have performed excellently in the Finswimming Championship. He also advised those children who have failed in achieving medals to not be disappointed and work hard in future because behind every success there is also some part of failure. Fear of failure can make one afraid of trying something new, which simply means that he or she will miss out on valuable new experiences. Often failure becomes the basis of great success.
Mr Manmohan Guptaa President District Swimming Association Faridabad in his address said that the purpose of organizing such competitions are to provide a better platform to the emerging players. Also, we have to prepare great players & finswimmers for the future in Haryana. On this occasion, General Secretary of Underwater Sports Association of Haryana, Mr Achinta Kumar Pandit while thanking Modern School (Sector 17, Faridabad), Power Grid Corporation Of India Limited, Accord Super Specialty Hospital (Faridabad) & NHPC for making this Championship a great success.

All Senior Coaches & technical Officials present in the event like Mr Gugan Singh, Mr Vinod Kumar, Mr Praveen, Mr Ram Swarup Sharma, Mr Prakash Kadyan, Mrs Sushma, Mr Ashish Paul, Mr Virender & Mr Ram, Jind were well appreciated and honoured.
Mr. A K Pandit in his concluding address said that Finswimming team from Faridabad, Palwal, Gurgaon, Ambala, Jhajjar, Panipat, Sonipat, Jind, Sirsa, Sonepat,Hisar, Yamunanagar and other districts participated in this two-day Mega Finswimming wimming championship. Mr Pandit extended special thanks to Mrs Neelima Jain, Principal of Modern School, Sector 17, Faridabad & her school team for providing the venue for the 4th Haryana Finswimming Championship in the school and helping in organizing such an sports event at a big level in Faridabad.
Mr A K Pandit told that on the last day i.e., 2nd June, Sunday, the best Finswimmers wimmers have been selected in various categories in this competition.

Simran, Sirsa (Senior A-Women),
Purnima Kaushik, Faridabad (Junior B-Girls),
Udit Malik, Faridabad (Junior B-Boys),
Harshika Julka, Faridabad (Junior C-Girls),
Nayan, Ambala (Junior C-Boys),
Niyati Julka, Faridabad (Junior D-Girls),
Krish Mohindra, Faridabad (Junior D-Boys),
Varushka Dahiya, (Junior E-Girls) &
Ujjwal Yadav, (Junior E-Boys).
Sirsa District won the Runner-up trophy in this competition , Ambala won 2nd Runner – up Trophy & Faridabad got the title of overall Finswimming Team Championship. All the winning finswimmers were felicitated with awards (Medals & Certificates) for their excellent performance in the 4th Haryana State Finswimming Championship 2024.
