President Droupadi Murmu has landed in Nadi, Republic of Fiji

President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Nadi, the Republic of Fiji, today for a two-day official visit, marking the first time an Indian President has visited Fiji. Upon her arrival, she was warmly welcomed by Viliame Gavoka, the Deputy Prime Minister of Fiji, and P.S. Karthigeyan, the High Commissioner of India to Fiji.

During her visit, President Murmu is set to engage in several official activities in both Suva and Nadi on August 6th and 7th. She will meet with Fiji’s President, Wiliame Katonivere, and Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka to discuss bilateral relations and cooperation. Additionally, President Murmu will address the Fijian Parliament and attend a community reception, fostering stronger ties with the local population.

As part of her itinerary, President Murmu will visit the Gandhi Memorial College in Suva and the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swamy Temple in Nadi. This visit underscores India’s commitment to enhancing its historical and diplomatic relationship with Fiji, reflecting a deepening of the bonds between the two nations.
