Rohtak, May 4, 2026: The second convocation of Dada Lakhmi Chand State University of Performing and Visual Arts (DLSUPVA) was held on Monday in Rohtak with a grand ceremony presided over by the university Chancellor and state Governor Asim Kumar Ghosh. A total of 760 students from various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes were awarded degrees during the event.

The ceremony was attended by First Lady of Haryana Mitra Ghosh, Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, and Chief Minister’s OSD Dr Raj Nehru as distinguished guests. The event was marked by a festive atmosphere, reflecting the university’s emphasis on creativity, culture, and artistic expression.

The programme began with a formal academic procession followed by traditional rituals including lamp lighting, Saraswati Vandana, Vande Mataram, and the university anthem. University officials including Vice Chancellor Dr Amit Arya, Registrar Dr Gunjan Malik Manocha, and Dean Academic Affairs Dr Ajay Kaushik welcomed guests and presented mementos and shawls. Students also presented portraits to the dignitaries.

A total of 35 meritorious students were awarded gold medals for outstanding academic performance. Officials from various universities across the state also participated in the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Asim Kumar Ghosh said the institution established in the name of legendary poet Dada Lakhmi Chand continues to inspire generations through its cultural legacy. He stated that the convocation is not merely a formal academic event but a celebration of knowledge, creativity, and responsibility.

He emphasized that the university is shaping students not only for employment but for leadership in creative fields such as performing arts, design, film, and architecture. He noted that Haryana’s cultural traditions in music, theatre, and dance are gaining national recognition and called it a sign of cultural revival.
The Governor encouraged the university to expand global collaborations and cultural exchanges, adding that Haryana has the potential to emerge as an important contributor to global artistic heritage.

Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda described DLSUPVA as the central hub of Haryana’s artistic and cultural identity. He said graduating students carry not just degrees but also responsibility towards society and the vision of a developed India.
He urged students to become job creators rather than job seekers and to blend tradition with modern innovation. He also stressed the importance of ethical values in the age of technology and artificial intelligence, while praising the university leadership for nurturing talent.

Vice Chancellor Dr Amit Arya said the convocation marks a new beginning for students and should be celebrated as a festival. He highlighted that the university aims at holistic development, producing responsible, ethical, and socially sensitive citizens.
He thanked teachers, staff, and parents for their contribution to student success and urged graduates to uphold the name of the institution with pride. He said true success lies in character, values, and contribution to society.
The event was attended by several senior dignitaries including former minister Manish Grover, Mayor Ramavatar Balmiki, and vice chancellors from multiple universities across Haryana, along with senior administrative and police officials.
