Delhi CM Launches Lakshmi Yojna Portal for Women

New Delhi, Aug. 1, 2026 :  Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday launched the online portal for the Delhi Lakshmi Yojna, enabling eligible women in the national capital to register for monthly financial assistance of ₹2,500.

Launching the portal, Gupta said the Delhi government has earmarked ₹5,100 crore for the scheme, which aims to strengthen the economic empowerment of women across the city.

“Delhi Lakshmi Yojana is a scheme that will provide economic empowerment to the sisters of Delhi. The government has allocated a budget of ₹5,100 crore for this. The portal has started from today, and registration has also begun,” she said.

The Chief Minister added that nearly 500 women had successfully completed their registrations shortly after the portal went live.

The Delhi Cabinet, chaired by Gupta, approved the scheme earlier this week. It was one of the Bharatiya Janata Party’s key promises during the Delhi Assembly elections.

According to the approved guidelines, women between the ages of 21 and 60 years with an annual family income of up to ₹2.5 lakh are eligible to apply for the scheme.

However, women already receiving benefits under any other financial assistance scheme or pension, taxpayers, government employees, women with more than three living children, and families with annual electricity consumption exceeding 2,400 units will not be eligible.

The scheme also excludes families with any member employed in a government job, those with pending criminal cases, and households owning a four-wheeler.

Under the financial assistance model, ₹1,500 of the monthly amount will be deposited in a fixed deposit with a three-year lock-in period, while beneficiaries will receive ₹1,000 directly for immediate use each month.
