Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Participates in Plantation Drive in Model Town Assembly Constituency Under the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ Campaign

New Delhi, 13 July 2026: As part of the Delhi Government’s campaign to plant 70 lakh saplings with the objective of making Delhi cleaner, greener and more developed, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta participated in a plantation drive in the Model Town Assembly constituency on Monday and planted saplings. Organised under the ‘Green Delhi Sankalp’ and ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaigns, the drive saw around 1,100 saplings planted across the Model Town area. The Chief Minister said that every sapling symbolises the commitment to providing future generations with clean air, greenery and a healthy life.

The event was attended by local MLA Ashok Goel, a large number of residents, representatives of Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs), and other distinguished citizens. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that large-scale plantation drives are being carried out continuously across Delhi. She noted that Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah launched the Mega Plantation Drive on July 7, following which the Delhi Government also launched a dedicated portal, https://greendrive.delhivanmahotsav.in to encourage public participation. Through the portal, citizens can join the plantation campaign by selecting a date, time and location of their convenience and booking a slot. The Delhi Government will deliver free saplings to citizens’ homes through the Vriksh Rath initiative. Citizens can also use the Nursery Locator to identify their nearest government nursery and collect a free sapling.

The Chief Minister said the Delhi Government is committed to converting every vacant and suitable space in the capital into green areas. As part of this effort, plantation is being carried out along central verges, beneath metro corridors and on both sides of roads in the Model Town area. Thousands of people are participating in the campaign and playing an active role in environmental conservation.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam campaign is not merely a tree-planting initiative but a people’s movement that reflects respect for nature, the environment and motherhood. She said the campaign is connecting citizens with environmental conservation while taking Delhi towards a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future. Appealing to the people of Delhi, she urged them to plant as many saplings as possible and contribute towards fulfilling the Delhi Government’s commitment to planting 70 lakh saplings.
