Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla Celebrates Raksha Bandhan with ‘Ladli Behnas’ in Kota

Kota, August 28: Lok Sabha Speaker  Om Birla celebrated the festival of Raksha Bandhan with the ‘Ladli Behnas’ of his parliamentary constituency, Kota-Bundi, on Thursday, sharing the festive spirit of affection, trust and brotherhood with women from the constituency.

The occasion reflected the special bond between brothers and sisters and highlighted the importance of respect, dignity and security for women in society. During the celebration, Veerangana Madhubala tied a sacred rakhi on  Birla’s wrist, symbolising the bond of affection, trust and mutual responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Om Birla said that the rakhi tied on his wrist is not merely a symbol of affection but also represents a commitment towards the dignity, self-respect and secure future of women. He said that the love and affection of his sisters is a blessing for him and gives him a sense of responsibility towards standing by them through every phase of life.

Birla said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival that strengthens the emotional bond between brothers and sisters and reminds everyone of the values of care, trust and responsibility. He emphasised that the true spirit of the festival goes beyond the ceremonial tying of a rakhi and lies in ensuring respect, support and security for women.

Highlighting the growing contribution of women, the Lok Sabha Speaker said that women are playing an increasingly important role not only in managing their families but also in the nation-building process and the development of society. Their contribution extends across different fields, and empowering women is essential for the progress of the country.

He expressed his hope that every sister’s life would be filled with dignity, happiness, prosperity and self-reliance. He also prayed that women across the country are able to fulfil their dreams and aspirations and move forward with confidence and independence.

Birla said that the affection and blessings received from his sisters are a source of strength and inspiration. He reiterated that supporting them in moments of happiness as well as standing beside them during difficult times is his responsibility.

On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Birla extended his heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all sisters. He said the festival is a celebration of the enduring bond of affection and trust between brothers and sisters and carries a message of mutual respect, care and commitment.
