CTTC Bhubaneswar Trains Over 8,000 Engineering Students in Industry-Focused Summer Programme

Empowering Future Engineers through Industry-graded Internship Training

Bhubaneswar, August 28: More than 8,000 engineering students from across India received hands-on exposure to industrial technologies through the four-week Summer Internship Training Programme organised by the Central Tool Room & Training Centre (CTTC), Bhubaneswar, during May and June 2026.

The programme, conducted under the Ministry of MSME, brought together 8,083 students from 22 States and Union Territories, along with 26 international students from Sudan and Yemen. Students ranging from first-year to final-year engineering courses participated in the training.

Designed to complement classroom education with practical experience, the programme covered both conventional engineering disciplines and rapidly developing technology areas. Training was offered in 39 different engineering and emerging technology domains, including Mechanical, Electronics, Civil, IT and Software, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things and Additive Manufacturing.

Mechanical engineering recorded the highest participation with 3,193 students, followed by Electronics with 2,209 and IT & Software with 1,948. Civil engineering accounted for 388 participants, while other emerging areas attracted 345 students.

Among individual training areas, Artificial Intelligence emerged as the most popular, drawing 1,748 students. PLC Programming had 1,000 participants, while AutoCAD, Python Programming and Data Analytics attracted 991, 413 and 392 students respectively.

Students from several leading educational institutions, including IITs, NITs, deemed universities, engineering colleges and polytechnic institutes, also took part in the programme.

CTTC’s role in technical training

CTTC Bhubaneswar was established to address the tooling and technical training requirements of the MSME sector, particularly in tool design, manufacturing and skill development.

The centre provides specialised services in areas such as automobile components, precision engineering and general engineering. Its capabilities include the design and production of press tools, moulds, dies, gauges, jigs and fixtures, along with training in Tool & Die technology, Product Design, Mechatronics, CAD/CAM/CAE, CNC machining and programming.

Beyond training and industrial services, CTTC has also contributed to India’s space and aerospace programmes. The centre manufactured and supplied 437 types of precision components, numbering around 54,000 pieces, for ISRO’s Chandrayaan-3 mission launched in July 2023.

It has also supplied precision components for ISRO’s Aditya-L1 solar mission, including regulators, flow-control valves, gyroscopes, temperature sensors and navigation-related parts.

The centre’s manufacturing capabilities extend to the aerospace and defence sectors as well, where it has produced high-precision components for original equipment manufacturers and supported programmes such as the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) initiative.

The latest internship programme reflects CTTC Bhubaneswar’s continued focus on giving engineering students practical exposure to technologies and skills relevant to the changing industrial landscape.
