NEW DELHI, July 13, 2026: As part of the Child Safety Awareness Month – July 2026, the Outer North District of Delhi Police organised a Mega Girl Child Counselling Session on the theme “Safe Girl Child and Secure Future” at Shaheed Sukhdev College of Business Studies, Sector-16, Rohini, on Monday.
The programme was attended by more than 400 participants from 151 schools across the Outer North District, including students, teachers, senior police officers, school representatives, and members of various educational institutions and non-governmental organisations.

Joint Commissioner of Police, Northern Range, Vijay Singh, attended the event as the chief guest and highlighted Delhi Police’s commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment for children. He urged schools, parents, and the community to work together to strengthen child protection and promote greater awareness about safety issues.

The counselling session focused on educating and empowering girl students on personal safety, cyber security, legal rights, and self-defence through expert-led interactive sessions.

Representatives from Pahal NGO conducted sessions on physical safety, explaining concepts such as “Good Touch, Bad Touch,” “Run, Hide, Tell,” and basic disaster management. Experts from ANAJ Foundation discussed cyber safety and measures to protect children from cybercrime.
Legal awareness sessions covered digital evidence, responsible online behaviour, and the provisions of Zero FIR. Dr. Deepa Kaushik from Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Management Studies (MAIMS) addressed issues related to women and child safety, including protection from exploitation, strangers, and elopement.

The Delhi Police Parivartan Team also conducted a self-defence demonstration, teaching students practical techniques, situational awareness, and the effective use of everyday objects for personal safety.
Students and teachers actively participated in discussions, sharing their views and experiences, making the programme highly interactive and informative.

The event concluded with the distribution of mementos to resource persons, kits to the organising team, and awareness pamphlets to school representatives.
Delhi Police reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with schools, parents, and civil society organisations to promote child safety and create a secure future for every girl child.
