Autopsy points to strangulation after violent assault as investigators piece together sequence of events

New Delhi- An autopsy conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences has revealed extensive injuries on a 22-year-old woman who was killed in her residence in Kailash Hills, with findings indicating death due to strangulation following a violent assault.

Doctors reported multiple external and internal injuries, including trauma to the face and neck region. The examination found damage consistent with asphyxia, with internal muscle hemorrhage in the neck area. Forensic experts said the injuries suggested a struggle prior to death.

According to officials, samples including biological evidence and material from the scene have been preserved and sent for detailed forensic analysis to establish the full sequence of events.

Investigators said the accused, identified as Rahul Meena, a former domestic worker, allegedly entered the apartment by using a spare key kept outside. The entry was timed when the victim’s parents were away, based on their routine.

Police said the accused confronted the victim inside her room and an altercation followed. Authorities believe the situation escalated into a violent attack, after which the victim lost consciousness. The investigation indicates that the accused later attempted to access valuables in the house before fleeing.

CCTV footage has been cited as key evidence, showing the suspect entering and leaving the locality within a short time frame.

The accused was arrested later the same day from a hotel in Dwarka. During preliminary questioning, police said he indicated financial motives behind the act.

The Delhi Police is continuing its probe, with forensic reports expected to play a crucial role in strengthening the case. Officials added that all angles are being examined as part of the investigation.
