New Delhi- A 22-year-old woman was found dead at her residence in Kailash Hills, in a case that has raised serious concerns about safety and trust within domestic spaces. The Delhi Police have arrested a 23-year-old suspect, identified as Rahul Kumar Meena, who had previously worked at the victim’s home.
According to investigators, the accused was familiar with the household routine and allegedly entered the apartment early in the morning after accessing a key kept outside. Police said the incident occurred when the victim was alone at home.
Officials stated that the accused allegedly demanded money and, following resistance, assaulted the woman. Medical examination later confirmed sexual assault, and the cause of death was determined to be strangulation. Authorities also reported multiple injuries, indicating a violent struggle.
Investigators further revealed that the accused attempted to access valuables inside the house and fled with cash and jewellery. A significant portion of the stolen items has since been recovered by police.
The accused was apprehended later the same day from a hotel in Dwarka and produced before a court in Saket. During proceedings, the court described the allegations as extremely grave and granted police custody for further investigation.
In a separate development, police are also examining the accused’s alleged involvement in another crime reported earlier in Alwar. Authorities said they are verifying links and gathering evidence across jurisdictions.
The case has been registered under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of rape, murder, and robbery. Officials emphasised that the investigation is ongoing, and further details will be established through forensic and legal processes.
