20-Minute Heist in Delhi’s Golf Links: Newly Hired Domestic Help Allegedly Orchestrates ₹30 Lakh Robbery

Police suspect a planned crime after a recently hired domestic worker allegedly entered a Golf Links home with five masked accomplices, held a family hostage and fled with gold jewellery worth up to ₹30 lakh.

New Delhi: A family in Delhi’s upscale Golf Links area was allegedly held hostage and robbed of gold jewellery worth ₹25-30 lakh after a recently hired domestic worker reportedly returned to the house with five accomplices and carried out a swift, planned heist, police said.

According to investigators, the incident took place on Thursday evening between 7:30 pm and 8 pm when the family — comprising an elderly couple, their daughter-in-law and a minor child — opened the door for the domestic worker, who had been employed only a few days earlier. Unaware that he was accompanied by others, the family allowed him entry before five masked men allegedly entered the residence behind him.

Police said the intruders threatened the occupants, manhandled them and confined them to a room before forcing them to hand over valuables. The accused allegedly escaped with gold jewellery within 20 to 25 minutes.

Officials said the men were carrying sticks and house-breaking tools and initial findings suggest the robbery may have been premeditated.

Police identified the primary suspect as the newly hired domestic worker and said he had reportedly been recommended by another staffer. Authorities also said no police verification of the domestic employee had been carried out before he was hired.

Multiple teams have been deployed to track down the accused, with investigators claiming they have leads in the case.

The robbery has raised fresh concerns over security vulnerabilities and domestic staff verification, particularly in high-security residential pockets of the national capital. The investigation is ongoing.
