Alaknanda Double Murder: Father and Son Killed After Year-Long Neighbour Dispute Erupts in Violent Attack

Police say a year-long dispute over money and parking allegedly escalated into a fatal stabbing inside a south Delhi housing complex, leaving two dead and one injured.

South Delhi: A long-running dispute between neighbours in south Delhi’s Alaknanda turned fatal on Friday evening when a 60-year-old man and his son were allegedly stabbed to death by a fellow resident, while another relative was injured in the attack, police said.

The violence unfolded inside Tara Apartment in the O Block area around 6:15 pm, when the accused reportedly called the victims outside their home before an argument escalated into a physical confrontation. Investigators said the dispute is believed to have stemmed from ongoing tensions linked to financial matters and parking-related disagreements that had reportedly persisted for nearly a year.

Police said the accused allegedly attacked the three men with a sharp-edged weapon during the altercation, inflicting multiple injuries. The father and son succumbed to their wounds, while the injured relative survived with minor injuries.

Authorities identified the suspect, a resident of the same housing complex, who fled after the incident and remains absconding. Police said efforts are underway to trace and arrest him.

Residents described panic and chaos following the attack, with one eyewitness claiming neighbours rushed the injured to hospital after emergency assistance was delayed. Some residents also alleged delays in medical treatment at one facility before the victims were shifted elsewhere, though officials have not commented on those claims.

Police teams and forensic experts secured the crime scene soon after the incident, collecting evidence and reviewing CCTV footage from the apartment complex as part of the investigation.

The killings have shocked residents of the society, where both families had reportedly been involved in repeated disputes in the past. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
