Jagdev Prasad Was a Well-Wisher of the Oppressed, Backward and Deprived: Minister Shravan Kumar

Bihar Sharif: On the occasion of the death anniversary of Amar Shaheed Bihar Lenin Jagdev Prasad and the birth anniversary of former President of India, great educationist and Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the Janata Dal (United), Bihar Sharif, organised a commemorative programme at Deepnagar in Bihar Sharif.

On the occasion, Bihar Government Minister and leader of the JD(U) Legislature Party Shravan Kumar, along with MP Kaushalendra Kumar and party workers, paid floral tributes and paid their respects to the two distinguished personalities.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister Shravan Kumar said, “Bihar Lenin Jagdev Prasad devoted his entire life to fighting for the rights of the oppressed, deprived, Dalits and backward communities. His slogan, ‘Ninety out of a hundred are oppressed, ninety parts belong to us,’ remains equally relevant even today.”

He said, “Jagdev Babu, a pioneer of social justice, had said, ‘The first generation will be killed, the second generation will go to jail, and the third generation will rule.’ Today, the third generation is ruling, and this is the result of his sacrifice.”

“Jagdev Prasad’s ideas are still alive today. Following the path shown by him and taking forward the struggle for education, equality and rights will be the true tribute to him,” he added.

Speaking about Bharat Ratna Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Minister Shravan Kumar said, “Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was a great teacher, philosopher and former President of India. We celebrate his birth anniversary as Teachers’ Day. This day is an occasion to pay tribute to the guru-shishya tradition.”

He said, “After parents, the teacher holds the most important place in our lives. It is the teacher who guides us from darkness towards light. Dr. Radhakrishnan had said that a teacher is not someone who merely fills students’ minds with facts, but someone who prepares them for the challenges of tomorrow. Good education determines the future of a nation.”

“The Bihar Government is committed to quality education, respect for teachers and the development of schools. His simple lifestyle and high ideals continue to inspire today’s youth and teachers. There is a need to adopt his ideals,” he added.

He further said, “I extend my heartfelt greetings to all teachers on Teachers’ Day. You are all nation-builders. Without you, the dream of a developed Bihar and a developed India remains incomplete. Teachers should receive the highest respect in society.”
