New Delhi- The investigation into the brutal rape and murder of a 22-year-old woman in south Delhi’s Kailash Hills has revealed a shocking development, with police stating that the prime accused, Rahul Meena, allegedly committed another sexual assault in Rajasthan just hours before the Delhi crime.
According to officials, Meena travelled overnight to the national capital after hiring a van and allegedly proceeded directly to the victim’s residence. Earlier that night, a complaint had been lodged in Rajasthan’s Alwar district accusing him of sexually assaulting a woman, the wife of one of his acquaintances. Police said the incident reportedly took place while her husband was away at a wedding.
Investigators believe Meena, who had connections through gambling-related activities, moved rapidly between locations after the complaint was filed in Alwar. He allegedly sold his phone for cash, arranged transport, and reached Delhi early the next morning.
CCTV footage reportedly showed him entering the Kailash Hills area around 6:30 am and leaving shortly after 7:15 am. Within this time frame, police allege he entered the residence, committed the crime, and fled with valuables. Officials further stated that he was previously employed by the victim’s family but was dismissed two months earlier due to financial misconduct.
Police sources also revealed that Meena was familiar with the household’s security layout, including knowledge of a hidden smart key used by domestic staff, which may have helped him gain access.
Authorities are now examining whether the attack was premeditated or driven by personal grievance, while confirming that further interrogation is underway to establish the full sequence of events.
