Rohini Encounter: Tillu Tajpuria Gang Shooter Arrested After Brief Gunfight with Delhi Police

Special Cell nabs absconding convict after exchange of fire in early morning operation

New Delhi- In a late-night operation in Rohini, Delhi Police’s Special Cell arrested an absconding shooter linked to the Tillu Tajpuria gang after a brief encounter in which the suspect opened fire on police personnel. The accused, a 40-year-old proclaimed offender and life convict who had jumped parole, was also previously booked under serious criminal charges, including murder and the Explosive Substances Act.

Police officials stated that acting on a specific tip-off, a surveillance team tracked the suspect, who was spotted riding a motorcycle. When officers attempted to intercept him around 10:25 pm, he allegedly tried to escape and fired at the police team. In retaliatory action, he was shot in the right leg and later taken to a hospital for treatment.

During the search operation, authorities recovered an illegal firearm, live ammunition, and a motorcycle from his possession. Investigators also revealed that the accused remained in contact with members of the Tillu Tajpuria and Kaushal Chaudhary gangs, who are believed to be operating from abroad, using encrypted communication apps.

Preliminary questioning suggests that the accused developed strong criminal links while previously incarcerated, further deepening his involvement with organised gang networks. Police have intensified efforts to trace other associates linked to the case.
