AIFF Sends ISL Racism Complaint to Disciplinary Committee After Kerala Blasters Allegation

New Delhi: The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has referred complaints of alleged racial abuse during the ongoing Indian Super League (ISL) to its Disciplinary Committee, following a formal protest lodged by Kerala Blasters FC.

The complaint stems from an incident during Kerala Blasters’ away fixture against Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium on April 11. The club alleged that its defender Fallou Ndiaye was subjected to racist chants from sections of the home crowd during the match, which Kerala Blasters won 2-1.

In an official statement, the AIFF firm stance against discrimination, stating that it upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards racism in football. The federation confirmed that the matter has been forwarded to its Disciplinary Committee, an independent body tasked with reviewing such cases under the AIFF Disciplinary Code.

Kerala Blasters strongly condemned the incident, calling it unacceptable and reaffirming their commitment to protecting the dignity of their players. The club stated that it has formally taken up the issue with league and federation authorities, demanding appropriate action.

Responding to the controversy, Bengaluru FC also denounced the alleged behaviour, stating that such actions go against the club’s core values. The club said it is working with authorities to identify those responsible and ensure necessary steps are taken.

The incident has once again brought the issue of racism in sports into focus, with stakeholders across Indian football reiterating the need for stricter enforcement and awareness to ensure that stadiums remain inclusive spaces for players and fans alike.
