Kejriwal government is first government in country to send its teachers abroad for training; we have increased budget for teachers’ training 10 times: Education Minister Atishi

NEW DELHI, August 21 , 2024 -Showing its commitment towards education, the Kejriwal government has constructed a magnificent four-storey school block in the Government Co-Ed Secondary School in the narrow lanes of Maidangarhi village. Education Minister Atishi on Wednesday inaugurated the school block and dedicated it to the children.

Speaking on the occasion, Education Minister Atishi said this school block, built in place of dilapidated classrooms in the school of Maidangarhi village, is now more magnificent than the buildings of expensive private schools.

She said that thousands of children from Maidangarhi, Rajpur, Chhattarpur, Neb Sarai and other nearby areas will benefit from the four-storey new school block. Due to the increasing pressure of students, this school used to run in two shifts, but with the new school block, it will again run in a single shift. This four-storey new school block is equipped with state-of-the-art labs, library, smart classrooms.

The Education Minister said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal changed the image of education in Delhi with his vision and gave the children studying in government schools an opportunity to progress through world-class education. She shared that the governments from independence to 2015 built only 24,000 rooms in government schools in Delhi, but in the last 10 years, the Arvind Kejriwal government built more than 22,000 classrooms. The Kejriwal government became the first government in the country to send its teachers abroad for training; we increased the budget for teachers training 10 times.

She said today in Delhi, children from poor families are becoming engineers, doctors by studying in government schools; getting admission in big universities and taking their families out of poverty, this is Arvind Kejriwal’s education revolution. “Arvind Kejriwal tried to improve the future of children from poor families by giving them excellent education, so he was put in jail. But with the love and blessings of the people of Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal will soon come out of jail and will lay the foundation stone of another new block in the existing school,” said Atishi.

The Education Minister said only Arvind Kejriwal’s government can do the work of building a magnificent 4-storey school block in the narrow lanes of Maidangarhi village, where it is difficult for vehicles to pass. This new school block is very significant for a village where there was a shortage of space and there was pressure on the school building.

She said at the place where this magnificent 4-storey modern school building is today, till a few years ago there used to be 4 rooms with a broken tin shed; due to lack of space, children were forced to study in the tin shed and parents used to send their children to school with a heavy heart. But now with this new academic block, the children of Maidangarhi village and the surrounding area will get a magnificent school building for studies.

Education Minister Atishi said that this education revolution started in 2015 when Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi. He vowed that every child of Delhi, whether he comes from a rich family or a poor family, should get the best education.

She said that before 2015, the condition of government schools in Delhi was pathetic. As soon as you entered the school, you would find stinking toilets, there was no drinking water, there were no tables and chairs for the children to sit. There were no teachers in the classrooms, fans and lights were broken. Children were crammed into a tin-roofed classroom. Families who had even a little money would take their children out of government schools and send them to private schools. There were many families who sent their children to government schools with a heavy heart.

Education Minister Atishi said that due to this condition of government schools, children often did not complete their studies and left them halfway through. Even if they completed their studies, due to the lack of good level of education in school, they were not able to go to good colleges or get good jobs. The result was that a child from a poor family remained poor and could not move forward.

She said in our country it is said that a child’s fate is written in the lines of his hand. To some extent, this was also true. A child’s fate was decided at the age of 3 years. If someone was from a family where parents could pay the fees of an expensive private school, he would go to a good school, a good college and get a good job. But on the other hand, a child from a poor family would go to a dilapidated tin-roofed government school for studies, would leave his studies midway and even if he completed his studies, he would get the opportunity to work in a shop or become a mechanic.

She said but in 2015, a miracle happened in Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal ji, the brother and son of Delhiites, became the Chief Minister of Delhi. And he changed the fate of the children of Delhi. Arvind Kejriwal ji doubled the education budget of Delhi and Delhi became the only state which gave 25% of its budget to education.

The Education Minister shared that since the independence of the country till 2015, the governments built only 24000 rooms in the government schools of Delhi. “But in the last 10 years, the Arvind Kejriwal government built more than 22,000 classrooms for the children of Delhi. In the last 10 years, 14 new school buildings have been built in Chhatarpur assembly alone,” said Atishi.

She said not only classrooms were built, but good desks also came here; a wonderful library was built, state-of-the-art labs were built. She said that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal believes that unless we give world-class exposure to our teachers, they cannot provide world-class education to children. In such a situation, we got our teachers trained in the top universities of the world by sending them abroad. “The budget of teachers’ training was increased 10 times to Rs 100 crores. In the last few years, 38 Schools of Specialized Excellence have been created to provide specialized education to the children of Delhi,” said Atishi.

Education Minister Atishi said all this is the result of Arvind Kejriwal’s education revolution that today when admissions to government schools in Delhi open, recommendations for admission come here. Arvind Kejriwal has changed the image of education in Delhi. For the last 7 years, the results of government schools in Delhi are coming out to be better than private schools. “Delhi is the only state where parents are taking their children out of private schools and sending them to government schools and in the last 3 years, more than 4 lakh children have left private schools and taken admission in government schools,” she said.

Today, children studying in Delhi government schools are becoming doctors, engineers, IAS officers. Every year more than 1000 children from our schools are qualifying JEE, NEET and getting admission in IITs and big medical colleges. In just one generation, they are taking their families out of poverty.

She said that this government has only one dream that whether a child is born in a rich family or a poor family, he should get a chance to move forward. Every child should get a chance to take this country forward.

Education Minister Atishi said that today the popular Chief Minister of Delhi is in jail because he was giving good education to the children of Delhi. They (BJP) could not match the work of Arvind Kejriwal because for this, an educated and honest Chief Minister is needed, so Arvind Kejriwal was implicated in a false case and sent to jail. “It was thought that if Arvind Kejriwal is put in jail, the work of Delhiites will stop but it is the love of Delhiites that despite being in jail, Arvind Kejriwal did not let any work of Delhi stop,” she said.

The Education Minister said that the love and blessings of Delhiites have so much power that Arvind Kejriwal will soon come out of jail and will work for Delhiites with full strength. “And another new building block will be constructed in this school. Arvind Kejriwal will lay its foundation stone in a few days,” she concluded.
