Hoax Bomb Threat Delays Lucknow-Delhi IndiGo Flight, Security Checks Clear Aircraft

IndiGo Bomb Threat delayed a Lucknow-Delhi flight after security checks. No explosive was found and authorities declared it a hoax.

Lucknow, June 12: A Lucknow-Delhi IndiGo flight was delayed on Friday after a bomb threat alert triggered extensive security checks shortly before its scheduled departure from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport.

The flight, carrying nearly 180 passengers, was scheduled to depart for Delhi at 10:45 a.m. However, authorities initiated emergency security protocols after information suggesting the presence of a bomb on board was received moments before take-off.

According to sources, the aircraft was immediately moved for inspection and security agencies conducted a thorough search of the plane and surrounding areas as a precautionary measure. During the checks, a tissue paper bearing the word “bomb” was reportedly discovered inside one of the aircraft’s lavatories, leading to concerns among airport authorities and airline staff.

After an extensive inspection, security teams confirmed that no explosive device or any suspicious material was found on the aircraft. Officials later termed the incident a hoax, though legal and security procedures were continued in accordance with aviation safety guidelines.

In a statement, IndiGo said a security threat was noticed onboard flight 6E 2111, which was scheduled to operate between Lucknow and Delhi. The airline immediately informed the relevant authorities and cooperated fully with the investigation and security checks.

The airline added that the aircraft would resume its journey after receiving all mandatory security clearances. IndiGo also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to passengers and said refreshments and regular updates were being provided during the delay.

Authorities are now investigating the source of the false alarm while reaffirming that passenger safety remains the highest priority in all such situations.
