Over 2,100 Women and Girls Participate in Delhi Police Self-Defence Summer Camp 2026

Delhi Police successfully concluded its 22nd Self-Defence Summer Camp 2026, training over 2,100 women and girls in safety, cyber awareness and life skills.

New Delhi, June 11: Delhi Police successfully concluded the 22nd edition of its Self-Defence Summer Camp, a two-week initiative aimed at equipping women and girls with essential safety and life skills. The programme was conducted simultaneously at four locations across the national capital from May 29 to June 11.

More than 2,100 participants took part in the training sessions, which focused on self-protection techniques, personal development and awareness-related issues.

The camp concluded with closing ceremonies organized at all four training centres on Thursday. Senior officers of the Special Police Unit for Women and Children (SPUWAC) attended the events and interacted with participants.

Among those present were senior Delhi Police officials who congratulated the trainees for their commitment and active participation throughout the programme.

During the camp, participants received practical self-defence training designed to help them respond confidently in challenging situations.

In addition to physical training, awareness sessions were conducted on women’s safety, cyber security, legal rights, mental well-being and personality development. Various life-skill programmes were also included to encourage confidence and self-reliance among young participants.

The camp featured a wide range of activities beyond self-defence instruction. Educational sessions, fitness exercises and recreational programmes were organized to promote holistic development.

Officials said the objective was to provide participants with knowledge and practical skills that could help them in their daily lives.

As part of the closing programme, trainees presented self-defence demonstrations and cultural performances. The presentations highlighted the techniques and lessons learned during the camp.

Certificates were awarded to participants who successfully completed the training programme. Organizers also distributed saplings to encourage environmental awareness and promote plantation activities among the youth.

Addressing the participants, senior officers stressed the importance of awareness, confidence and preparedness in ensuring personal safety. They encouraged the attendees to apply the skills learned during the camp and share the knowledge with others in their communities.

Delhi Police expressed gratitude to schools, parents, volunteers and supporting organizations for their cooperation in making the programme successful.

Officials said the initiative reflects the department’s continued efforts to strengthen the safety, security and empowerment of women and children across the city.
