New Delhi, October 28, 2025 — President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Eighth Session of the International Solar Alliance (ISA) Assembly in New Delhi today, emphasizing that solar energy must be viewed not only as a means of power generation but as a tool for social empowerment, sustainability, and inclusive development.
In her inaugural address, President Murmu said the ISA embodies the shared global commitment to harness solar energy for a brighter, more equitable future. “The Alliance stands as a beacon of collective prosperity, rooted in our aspiration to make clean energy accessible to all,” she remarked.
Highlighting the urgency of tackling climate change, the President reiterated India’s strong resolve to address environmental challenges through decisive action. She noted that the ISA plays a crucial role in uniting nations toward a sustainable future by promoting the adoption of renewable energy solutions, particularly solar power.
Reflecting on India’s developmental experience, the President stated that energy equity lies at the heart of social justice. “Our journey of illuminating even the remotest homes reaffirms our belief that access to clean and affordable energy transforms lives and drives inclusive growth,” she said.
Urging ISA member nations to look beyond infrastructure, the President called for a holistic approach linking solar energy to human development goals. “This Assembly must craft an action plan that connects solar power with employment generation, women’s empowerment, rural livelihoods, and digital inclusion,” she emphasized.
President Murmu further underscored the need for technological collaboration, advocating for the sharing of advanced innovations among nations for the benefit of all. She also cautioned that large-scale solar projects must ensure ecological balance, reminding that environmental conservation is the very essence of transitioning to green energy.
Concluding her address, the President appealed to the global community to act with a sense of shared responsibility — not only for present needs but for future generations. She expressed confidence that the ISA’s collective deliberations will mark a defining milestone in expanding solar energy’s reach and building a more inclusive, equitable world.
