New Delhi, November 4, 2025: In line with the vision of the Prime Minister’s Swachh Bharat Mission, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has successfully concluded Special Campaign 5.0, held from October 2 to October 31, 2025. The month-long initiative aimed at promoting cleanliness, institutional efficiency, and the systematic disposal of pending matters across all its offices.
Cleanliness Drives: 1,272 outdoor campaigns and 2,073 cleaning activities were carried out nationwide.
Scrap Disposal: A total of 2,62,391 kg of scrap, including 40,381 kg of e-waste, was disposed of — generating a revenue of ₹1.37 crore and freeing up 77,348 sq. ft. of workspace.
Condemnation of Vehicles: 174 obsolete vehicles were officially written off.
File Review and Management: 35,281 physical files and 1,486 e-files were reviewed; 11,389 physical and 289 electronic files were closed.
Grievance Resolution: 489 public grievances, 121 appeals, 19 MP references, 2 PMO references, and 2 state government references were disposed of.

The campaign’s progress was continuously reviewed under the supervision of Shri Sanjay Jaju, Secretary, Ministry of I&B, and monitored daily by Shri R.K. Jena, Senior Economic Advisor and Nodal Officer.
Dr. L. Murugan, Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting and Parliamentary Affairs, personally inspected several offices and offered further directions for improvement.
Several creative and sustainable practices were adopted during the campaign:
All India Radio, Ahmedabad: Transformed its boundary wall with artistic murals symbolizing India’s vibrant media and entertainment sector.
SRFTI, Kolkata: Students built a “Waste-to-Art” Japanese-style house using old newspapers and cardboard, and beautified their waste collection (VAT) area.
IIMC, Kottayam: Initiated the construction of a pond to address water scarcity in its campus.
Main Secretariat, New Delhi: Staff of the Rajbhasha Division beautified Room 116A at Shastri Bhawan.
Public awareness events were organized by CBC Bhubaneswar at Puri Bus Stand and by DDK Prayagraj and DPD Thiruvananthapuram, showcasing before-and-after cleanliness transformations.
The campaign’s message of Swachhta was amplified through print, electronic, and digital media, ensuring widespread public participation.
Through sustained efforts, teamwork, and accountability, the Ministry has demonstrated how regular cleanliness drives and efficient file management can strengthen transparency and productivity in government operations.
