New Delhi, August 23, 2026; Delhi Police conducted its weekly Thana Diwas–Jansunwai programme across police stations in all 15 districts of the national capital on Saturday, providing residents with a direct platform to raise complaints and seek assistance from senior officers.
The public outreach exercise, held on August 22 from 10 am to 2 pm, saw authorities take up a total of 1,194 complaints and grievances submitted by citizens. Senior police officials personally interacted with residents and reviewed their concerns during the hearings.
Joint Commissioners of Police and District Deputy Commissioners of Police visited police stations to assess the grievances being raised and review the action taken by field-level officers. The initiative is aimed at ensuring that citizens receive timely attention to their complaints and that pending issues are followed up appropriately.
The weekly programme is being conducted in accordance with the directions of Delhi Lieutenant Governor Sardar Taranjeet Singh Sandhu, with the objective of making police stations more accessible to the public and improving the grievance-redressal mechanism.
Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar, IPS, is overseeing the initiative, which seeks to strengthen direct communication between police personnel and residents. Officials said the programme is also intended to build greater public confidence, cooperation and trust in the police.
By bringing senior officers directly into public hearings at police stations, the Thana Diwas–Jansunwai programme provides citizens with an opportunity to raise concerns before the district leadership and enables the police administration to monitor the progress of grievance resolution more closely.
