Chandigarh, August 21, 2026; Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Friday called upon the state’s young population to embrace entrepreneurship, innovation and emerging technologies, saying that the youth must increasingly focus on creating jobs rather than only seeking employment.
Addressing the Gen-H Startup Summit–Yuva Udyami Chaupal at Gurugram University, the Chief Minister said Haryana has immense entrepreneurial potential and that the government is working to build an ecosystem where innovative ideas can receive mentorship, training, technical assistance and financial support.

Rather than following a conventional format, the programme provided a platform for direct interaction between the Chief Minister, young entrepreneurs and Gen-Z participants. Saini listened to questions and suggestions concerning startup funding, skill development, technology, employment and business expansion.
The Chief Minister said the state’s approach is centred on converting promising ideas into viable businesses and subsequently generating employment. He urged young innovators not to abandon their concepts because of initial challenges, but to refine them through guidance, experimentation and continuous effort.
Saini said Haryana currently has around 12,500 startups and set an ambitious goal of expanding the state’s entrepreneurial network. He encouraged every existing startup to inspire or support the creation of another venture, which could potentially take the startup base beyond 25,000.

He said educational institutions, industries, startups and other organisations need to work together to create greater opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs.
The Chief Minister also highlighted the importance of Artificial Intelligence, robotics and other emerging technologies. He encouraged young people to develop products and businesses with the potential to compete beyond Haryana and India and reach international markets.
The summit featured six Master Classrooms where experienced entrepreneurs conducted sessions on different aspects of launching and growing a business. Around 50 participants attended each classroom.
The government also plans to provide participants with exposure to the functioning of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), allowing young entrepreneurs to gain practical knowledge beyond classroom-based training.

A dedicated Startup Room offered participants an opportunity to interact with established entrepreneurs and understand the challenges involved in building a new venture. Representatives from banks explained available financial support and loan facilities, while experts associated with skill development institutions guided participants on relevant training opportunities.
Saini also flagged off the Yuva Udyamita Yatra, an initiative designed to take the entrepreneurship campaign to different parts of Haryana.
The Chief Minister directed officials to include colleges, universities, ITIs, coaching centres and other educational institutions across the state. He stressed that students should receive prior information about the programme and be made aware of the support available for developing startup ideas.
He also called for exhibitions and dedicated bank stalls during the journey so that aspiring entrepreneurs can learn about business opportunities, financing and government support at the local level.
The summit showcased the growing interest in entrepreneurship among Haryana’s youth. More than 45,000 ideas have reportedly emerged through the state’s Ideathon, while nearly 400 young entrepreneurs took part in the summit.

Selected entrepreneurs participated in roundtable discussions and spoke about their experiences, business challenges and innovative concepts. The Chief Minister said the scale of participation demonstrates the potential of Haryana’s younger generation and underlined the need to convert promising ideas into sustainable ventures.
Saini said the government wants young people to view setbacks as part of the entrepreneurial journey and use them as opportunities to improve their ideas and business models.
The Chief Minister described the state’s youth as a key force behind Haryana’s future economic growth. He said initiatives such as the Gen-H Yuva Udyami Chaupal are intended to create a support system in which young people with innovative ideas know where to seek guidance and assistance.
He urged participants to think ambitiously, remain adaptable to technological changes and work towards building enterprises capable of creating opportunities for others.

Gurugram University, Masters’ Union University, Manav Rachna University Faridabad, Rishihood University Sonipat, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University Palwal, PlaneX Startup and Age Promoters contributed to the programme. Industry Minister Rao Narbir Singh, OSD to the Chief Minister Raj Nehru, Virender Badkhalasa and Gurugram University Vice Chancellor Professor Sanjay Kaushik were also present.
