Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary welcomes approval of 11.18 lakh PMAY houses in Bihar

Patna, August 20, 2026; Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has welcomed the Union Government’s approval of 11,18,937 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), describing the decision as a major boost to housing security and welfare in the state.

Choudhary thanked the Centre for the large-scale allocation and said the approval would help thousands of economically weaker families move closer to owning permanent homes. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for the initiative and said the housing expansion would provide greater stability and hope to families living in inadequate housing conditions.

The Chief Minister also acknowledged Union Minister for Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan for highlighting the Centre’s commitment to Bihar’s development. He said cooperation between the Centre and the state government would continue to accelerate welfare and development programmes across Bihar.

The housing approval was announced by Chouhan during his visit to Bihar. He said the sanction was in line with the government’s objective of ensuring a permanent house for every poor family and would particularly benefit people currently residing in kutcha houses.

Chouhan further said the Centre and the Bihar government would continue working together to expand development and public welfare initiatives in the state.

The latest PMAY approval is expected to provide a significant push to rural housing in Bihar, with more than 11 lakh families set to benefit from the newly sanctioned houses.
