London [UK], August 23, 2026; The University of London is exploring plans to establish an academic campus in Hyderabad, potentially opening new avenues for international education and research in Telangana.

The development emerged during a high-level interaction between the Telangana Rising delegation and representatives of the University of London at Senate House in London. The meeting was attended by Telangana Industries and IT Minister D Sridhar Babu, along with senior state officials K Ramakrishna Rao and Jayesh Ranjan.

Representatives from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), both part of the University of London’s academic network, also participated in the discussions.

The proposed Hyderabad campus is expected to provide students access to a broad portfolio of academic programmes offered through institutions and departments associated with the University of London federation.

The discussions are part of Telangana’s broader efforts to attract leading global educational institutions to Hyderabad and strengthen the city’s position as an international centre for knowledge, research and innovation.

The Telangana delegation had also engaged with academics from the University of Cambridge during its UK visit. The discussions focused on potential cooperation in higher education, research, entrepreneurship and the development of a global knowledge ecosystem in Hyderabad.

Cambridge Judge Business School representatives Jaideep Prabhu, Government of India-sponsored Chair of Marketing, and Professor Venkata Serish Gandikota, co-chair of Frugal AI, indicated interest in exploring partnerships with Telangana.

The two sides discussed developing a structured framework for joint initiatives, including academic programmes in Hyderabad, research collaboration and support for entrepreneurship and incubation.

During his UK visit, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also visited Dr B R Ambedkar’s House in London and described the experience as an inspiration for a lifetime.

The proposed University of London campus could further expand Telangana’s efforts to bring internationally recognised education and research institutions to Hyderabad.
