JSW Foundation, ASDC and Victora Industries launch automotive skills programme

New batch to train youth as Automotive Machining Operators and connect them with industry-based employment opportunities

Faridabad: A new batch of the Automotive Machining Operator training programme was launched on Thursday as part of a joint initiative by Victora Industries Pvt. Ltd., JSW Foundation’s Project Umeed and the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and improve their employment prospects. The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Prasanna Pahade, CEO of ASDC, attended as the chief guest, while S.S. Banga, Managing Director of Victora Industries and known as the ‘Tree Man of Haryana’, and Navendu Pathak, HR Manager, JSW MI, Palwal, were present as guests of honour.

Prasanna Pahade said developing a skilled workforce was essential to meet the growing requirements of the automobile and manufacturing sectors. He said industry-based training could play a key role in preparing youth for employment and described the joint initiative as an effort to provide practical skills and better career opportunities.

S.S. Banga said skills were the foundation of self-reliance and urged the trainees to make discipline, continuous learning and hard work the basis of their professional growth.

Victora Industries Director Daman Banga said Project Umeed was aimed at connecting youth with opportunities, confidence and a better future. She also highlighted initiatives undertaken in education, environmental conservation, skill development and social welfare.

Navendu Pathak briefed participants about Project Umeed and its efforts to provide skill-based employment opportunities. He also discussed industry expectations, workplace discipline, job opportunities and the importance of professional skills.

Under the programme, trainees will receive theoretical and practical training, workplace exposure, assessment and certification as Automotive Machining Operators, along with post-training support to connect them with employment opportunities. Training kits were distributed to participants, who were encouraged to maintain discipline, work hard and pursue continuous learning throughout the course.

Meenu Sarawagi, Executive Vice-President and Chief Strategy and Operations Officer, ASDC, along with project implementation team members Arun and Manisha, contributed to the training arrangements.

Dr. Saroj Kumar anchored the programme, while Plant Head Ravinder Singh welcomed the guests. Pushpendra Sharma and HR team members Jayesh Kumar, Manoj Gupta, Bijendra Rawat, Rakhi, Anuradha and Ajit, among others, contributed to the successful organisation of the event.

Project Umeed aims to strengthen youth employability by aligning their skills with industry requirements and creating pathways to sustainable employment.
