Cairo- India continued their impressive run at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Cairo by securing four more medals on the second day of competition, including three silver and one bronze. The Indian junior shooting squad delivered consistent performances across rifle and pistol events, strengthening their position on the overall medal table, where they currently stand third behind Kazakhstan and the Individual Neutral Athletes.
Rohit Kanyan opened India’s medal account for the day in the 50m rifle prone junior men’s event. He registered a strong score of 615.8, narrowly missing gold by just 0.5 points to Kazakhstan’s Oleg Noskov, and settling for silver.
In the junior women’s 25m pistol category, Sejal Kamble impressed during qualification with a top score of 580, but finished second in the final after hitting 27 targets. The gold medal went to Katsiaryna Ivanova of the Individual Neutral Athletes, who delivered a dominant 31-hit performance.
India added another double podium finish in the junior men’s 25m pistol event. Raj Chandra claimed silver with a score of 580, while Abhinav Deshwal secured bronze with 578, continuing India’s strong showing in pistol shooting disciplines.
In skeet events, Indian shooters had mixed results. Risham Guron qualified second in the junior women’s skeet with 115 points but ended seventh in the final after scoring seven hits. In the junior men’s skeet, Ishaan Singh Libra reached the final stage with 118 points and finished just outside the medal bracket after being eliminated with 24 hits.
The day also saw record-level performances from competitors, with Varvara Zaitseva of the Individual Neutral Athletes winning gold in women’s skeet with a world-record 33 hits, while Britain’s Denzil Jago Grose clinched gold in men’s skeet.
India’s consistent medal-winning run highlights the growing strength of its junior shooting program on the international stage.
