Veldhoven– Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, visited the headquarters of ASML in Veldhoven, Netherlands, as part of India’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its semiconductor ecosystem.
During the visit, the Minister highlighted India’s rapid progress in building a domestic semiconductor industry. He explained that lithography — the process of imprinting circuit patterns onto silicon wafers — is one of the most advanced and precision-driven stages of chip manufacturing.

Vaishnaw noted that ASML is the global leader in lithography systems, supplying highly sophisticated machines that are essential for manufacturing almost every advanced semiconductor chip produced worldwide.
Referring to India’s upcoming semiconductor fabrication facility in Dholera, Gujarat, the Minister said the plant will utilize ASML’s cutting-edge equipment. He added that his visit aimed to gain deeper insights into ASML’s technology and explore stronger collaboration.
The Minister also underlined that ASML’s potential expansion into India would be a major boost for the country’s semiconductor ambitions. He pointed out that several global equipment manufacturers are now considering India as a manufacturing and technology base, driven by the country’s strong chip design talent, vast skilled workforce, and stable policy environment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

ASML is a Netherlands-based multinational company and one of the most critical technology suppliers to the global semiconductor industry. The company designs and manufactures advanced photolithography machines, which chipmakers use to create intricate circuit patterns on silicon wafers.
Its technology enables the production of smaller, faster, and more energy-efficient chips, powering everything from smartphones to high-performance computing systems.
ASML also took part in SEMICON India 2025, where it expressed strong interest in supporting and partnering in India’s growing semiconductor mission.
