PM Modi Meets UAE President on Sidelines of G7 Summit in France

Modi UAE Meeting in France focused on trade, technology, energy, defence cooperation, regional security and India-UAE strategic partnership.

Evian, France, June 17: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. The meeting marked the third interaction between the two leaders in 2026, highlighting the growing strength of the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

During the meeting, both leaders reviewed ongoing collaboration across several sectors, including technology, trade, investment, energy and defence.

They discussed the progress achieved following the UAE President’s visit to India in January 2026 and Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the UAE in May 2026. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive momentum in bilateral ties.

The two leaders also exchanged views on important regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need for dialogue and diplomacy to address global challenges. He stressed the importance of respecting international law, sovereignty and territorial integrity to ensure lasting peace and stability in West Asia.

India and the UAE underscored the importance of maintaining free, safe and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.

Both leaders highlighted the need to safeguard international trade and commerce routes, which play a crucial role in global economic stability and energy security.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Modi invited President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to attend the upcoming BRICS Summit, which India will host later this year.

The invitation reflects India’s commitment to strengthening engagement with key global partners and expanding cooperation on international platforms.

The latest meeting reaffirmed the close relationship between India and the UAE. Both countries continue to deepen cooperation across strategic sectors while working together on regional and global issues of shared concern.
