New Delhi, July 30, 2026:Union Minister and Leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha,Jagat Prakash Nadda, on Thursday accused the Opposition of deliberately disrupting Parliament and asserted that the Narendra Modi-led government was prepared to discuss every issue raised in the House.
Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, Nadda alleged that the Opposition had focused on obstructing proceedings since the beginning of the Monsoon Session instead of participating in debates. He said the government had consistently remained open to discussions in every parliamentary session and claimed the Opposition lacked substantive issues.
Referring to the day’s agenda, Nadda said a discussion was scheduled in the Rajya Sabha and criticized Opposition parties for repeatedly changing their demands. He termed their conduct irresponsible and reiterated that the government was willing to debate any issue.
Following his remarks, Opposition members staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha.
The developments come amid continued protests by INDIA bloc parties over the alleged police action against student protesters at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on July 20. The Opposition has demanded accountability from the Centre, sought the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and asked Union Home Minister Amit Shahto make a statement in Parliament.
Meanwhile, the Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm amid uproar over remarks by Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi regarding the alleged firing during the July 20 student protest. Before adjourning the House, Speaker Om Birla congratulated Indian athletes for their medal-winning performances at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
