NMC Invites Applications for New Medical Colleges and MBBS Seat Expansion for 2026–27

The National Medical Commission (NMC) invites online applications from Dec 29, 2025, to Jan 28, 2026, for establishing new medical colleges and expanding MBBS seats for the 2026-27 academic year.

New Delhi-  The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced that applications are now open for establishing new medical colleges and increasing undergraduate (MBBS) seats in existing institutions for the 2026–27 academic year. Interested institutions can apply online through the official NMC website.

The application window is December 29, 2025, to January 28, 2026, and all applicants must adhere to NMC regulations, guidelines, and Minimum Standard Requirements (MSR).

For seat expansion, NMC has clarified that no college can exceed 150 MBBS seats for the 2026–27 academic year. The intake must also follow the norm of 100 MBBS seats per 10 lakh population in the respective state or Union Territory.

How to Apply

  1. Only online applications will be accepted; offline submissions are not permitted.

  2. Applicants can access the portal for either new medical colleges or MBBS seat increase.

  3. New college applicants need to register with an email ID and create a password.

  4. Existing colleges seeking more seats should log in using their NMC-registered email ID.

  5. All logins and future communication must use the registered email and password.

  6. Once logged in, the application form will open automatically.

  7. After submission, uploading documents, and paying fees, an application number will be generated.

  8. This application number must be referenced in all future interactions with NMC.

  9. For detailed fee structure, applicants should check the official NMC website.

This initiative by NMC aims to expand medical education opportunities across India and meet the growing demand for healthcare professionals.
