Meerut : The much-anticipated Namo Bharat Train, also referred to as the Rapid Train, began its service yesterday on the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) between Meerut South and Ghaziabad. The inaugural journey commenced from Meerut South station at approximately 2 pm and successfully covered the 42 km stretch to Sahibabad station in just 32 minutes.
With the inclusion of this newly operational 8 km segment, the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor now spans a total of 42 km, connecting 9 stations from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South. This extension significantly enhances connectivity in the region, offering a faster and more efficient travel option for commuters.
The NaMo Bharat trains will operate daily from 6 am to 10 pm, serving passengers along the entire route between Sahibabad and Meerut South. The fare structure for the journey is designed to accommodate different preferences, with ticket prices ranging from 110 rupees for a standard coach to 220 rupees for a premium class coach.
This new rail service is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve travel times for residents and daily commuters in the National Capital Region (NCR). The RRTS aims to provide a reliable and rapid transportation option, contributing to the overall efficiency of the regional transit network and supporting the region’s economic growth. The introduction of the Namo Bharat Train represents a significant milestone in the development of modern infrastructure in the area, reflecting ongoing efforts to enhance public transportation and connectivity across key urban centers.
