Greater Noida, Sun 26 july, 2026:

A tragic water tank accident took place at Eldeco Society in Sector 150, Greater Noida, creating panic among residents. The incident occurred when a maintenance worker entered an underground water storage tank for cleaning purposes and reportedly faced breathing difficulties due to the confined space.

According to preliminary details, the worker became unconscious inside the tank after being exposed to a low-oxygen environment. A security guard present at the society noticed the situation and tried to save the worker but also entered the tank without adequate safety equipment. He too suffered from suffocation and could not survive.

After receiving information about the incident, police teams reached the residential society along with rescue personnel. A rescue operation was launched to bring both individuals out of the tank. Despite efforts, both were declared dead and their bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.

Police officials have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the water tank accident and whether proper safety guidelines were followed during the maintenance work. Authorities are also checking if workers were provided with necessary protective equipment and whether safety measures were in place before entering the tank.

Experts have repeatedly warned about the risks involved in cleaning underground tanks and other confined spaces. Such areas often have poor ventilation and may contain harmful gases, making safety equipment and proper monitoring essential.

The incident has raised concerns among residents regarding maintenance safety standards in housing societies. Further details are expected after the completion of the police investigation.
