New Delhi, 19 Feb 2024-On the occasion of the 285th birth anniversary of Sant Sevalal Maharaj and Shri Roop Singh Maharaj Commemoration Day, a diverse cultural program was organized by Sant Sevalal Maharaj Charitable Trust, New Delhi. The event was conducted in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, at the NDMC Convention Center in Delhi.
To honor the event, Shri Om Birla, the Honorable Speaker of Lok Sabha, Shrimati Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for Culture and External Affairs, Shri Sanjay Rathore, Minister of Land and Environment, Shri Manjinder Singh Sirsa, National Secretary of BJP, and Shri Satish Upadhyay, Vice Chairman of NDMC, also participated.
The program commenced with offering floral tributes to the statue of Sant Seva Lal Maharaj and the lighting of lamps. Dr. Umesh Jadhav delivered the welcome note, requesting assistance for the construction of a 5-acre land for Banjara Bhavan in Delhi, and also proposed the inclusion of Gorboli in the 8th Constitution Schedule.
In his keynote address, Shri Om Birla stated, “I am honored to be part of the event organized in Delhi on the 285th birth anniversary of revered Sant Seva Lal Ji. His work in eliminating atrocities in challenging situations and his dedication to public service and humanitarian causes will always be a source of inspiration. The messages of great personalities like Sant Seva Lal Ji, Rup Singh Ji, and Lakkhi Shah Banjara resonate as the Banjara community tirelessly contributes to the service of the nation. He urged the youth, especially girls, to be educated, cultured, and imbued with patriotism.”
Shrimati Meenakshi Lekhi mentioned in her speech, “The Banjara community is a community that has preserved its cultural heritage even in this modern age.”
Shri Sanjay Rathore stated, “The Maharashtra government is always ready for the welfare of the Banjara community.” He shared that the state government is developing Pahadgarh into an international standard pilgrimage site, spending over 600 crores.
On this occasion, Shri Om Birla inaugurated the book “Baaj Vadaro,” a biography of Shri Shankar Pawar, the National President of Akhil Bharatiya Banjara Seva Sangh, and praised Shankar Pawar for dedicating his life to those who aspire to achieve something and show extraordinary commitment to society. He lauded Pawar’s journey of overcoming poverty to reach an unparalleled and commendable position in life.
Shri Shankar Pawar concluded the program with a thanksgiving address. Various cultural groups from Karnataka, Telangana, and Maharashtra presented a program that lasted for more than 4 hours. Over 1500 individuals from across the country participated in this event.
