PATNA :As Bihar prepares for its 2025 Legislative Assembly Elections, renowned folk singer and SVEEP Icon of Patna, Dr. Nitu Kumari Navgeet, has called upon every citizen to exercise their most powerful democratic right — the right to vote. Emphasizing that voting is not only a right but also a duty toward the nation, Dr. Navgeet stated that active participation is the cornerstone of a vibrant democracy.
This year’s elections, to be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11, 2025, will decide the leadership for 243 constituencies across Bihar. Over 7.4 crore registered voters are expected to cast their ballots, shaping the state’s direction for the years ahead.
Dr. Navgeet underlined that each vote matters, pointing out that in previous elections, several constituencies were decided by mere hundreds of votes. “Your one vote can be the difference between progress and stagnation, between opportunity and neglect,” she said, urging citizens not to let their voices go unheard.
Highlighting the efforts of the Election Commission of India (ECI) and its Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, Dr. Navgeet commended the steps taken to ensure inclusive, accessible, and fair elections. The Commission has introduced special provisions for senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and first-time voters, ensuring that no voter is left behind.
She also appealed to young voters — who make up a large portion of Bihar’s population — to recognize their transformative power. “The youth are the architects of tomorrow. Every time they vote, they shape not just governance, but the destiny of the nation,” she remarked.
Dr. Navgeet reminded voters that democracy thrives on informed participation. She encouraged citizens to learn about their candidates, understand manifestos, and vote ethically—free from inducement or bias. “Voting day is the festival of democracy, a celebration of equality and choice. Let us honour it by participating with pride,” she said.
