Faridabad, July 16, 2026:
With the objective of nurturing respect, empathy and a spirit of service towards senior citizens among young learners, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), through its Senior Care Initiative in collaboration with the School Forum, organised ‘Umang Ki Pathshala’ – Healthy Ageing Schools Programme at Jiva Public School, Sector 21B, Faridabad.
The programme was graced by Dr. Vandana Shukla, Director – Education, CII; Ms. Mamta Sharma, Director – Medical Technology, Senior Care & Life Sciences, CII; and Dr. Prashita Nair, Dementia and Senior Care Expert, who interacted with students and shared their expertise on healthy ageing and the importance of caring for the elderly. Dr. Shukla’s team was also present on the occasion.
Through engaging stories, interactive discussions, experiential activities and expert guidance, students gained a deeper understanding of the physical, emotional and social aspects of ageing. They learnt that senior citizens require not only physical assistance but also love, patience, respect and emotional support. The speakers encouraged students to spend quality time with their grandparents and other elderly family members, listen to them with empathy and remain attentive to their needs.

During the workshop, Dr. Prashita Nair explained the physical, mental and emotional changes associated with ageing and highlighted common health concerns faced by senior citizens. She emphasised that a balanced diet, regular exercise, a disciplined lifestyle and a positive mindset can help older adults lead active, healthy and fulfilling lives. She also urged students to cultivate compassion, respect and sensitivity towards the elderly.
Sharing her impressions, Dr. Vandana Shukla said, “The Jiva Learning System goes beyond academic excellence and focuses on the holistic development of every child. Such an approach lays the foundation for a brighter future and will play a vital role in making India a Vishwaguru once again through value-based education.”

Dr. Prashita Nair remarked, “The education system at Jiva is truly impressive. It is heartening to witness the respect students have for their teachers and peers, along with the discipline and positive energy that permeate the school environment.”
Ms. Mamta Sharma added, “My experience at Jiva Public School has been truly inspiring. The school’s disciplined environment and positive culture reflect its strong commitment to holistic education and values.”
At the conclusion of the programme, students pledged to honour and care for the senior citizens in their families and communities, extending kindness, support and meaningful companionship.
