Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu, March 7, 2025: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, presided over the 56th Raising Day Parade of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in Thakkolam, Tamil Nadu. He was joined by Union Minister Dr. L. Murugan and CISF Director General Shri Rajvinder Singh Bhatti. The grand ceremony showcased CISF’s commitment to safeguarding India’s vital installations and ensuring industrial and economic security.
During his address, Shri Amit Shah lauded the CISF’s unwavering dedication over the past 56 years, emphasizing its indispensable role in securing key infrastructure such as ports, airports, business hubs, research institutions, and metro systems. He stated that India’s economic growth and industrial expansion would not have been possible without the tireless efforts of CISF personnel, whose discipline and vigilance ensure the smooth functioning of these critical sectors.
Highlighting CISF’s remarkable contributions, Shri Shah remarked that the force is not only responsible for securing major commercial and transportation hubs but also plays an essential role in emergency response, disaster management, and internal security. He acknowledged CISF personnel’s commitment to national service and their increasing participation in social welfare initiatives.
Recognizing the rich cultural legacy of Tamil Nadu, the Home Minister emphasized the state’s significant contributions to India’s administrative, spiritual, and educational advancements. He highlighted that Tamil Nadu has always been at the forefront of strengthening national unity and integrity.
In honor of this legacy, Shri Shah announced that the CISF Regional Training Centre in Thakkolam would be named after the great warrior of the Chola dynasty, Rajaditya Chola. He recalled the warrior’s sacrifices and contributions, stating that this move would serve as an inspiration for young recruits and a tribute to Tamil Nadu’s glorious past.
A major highlight of Shri Shah’s speech was the government’s initiative to allow Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) recruitment exams in Tamil, along with other languages recognized in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. Until recently, these exams were only available in Hindi and English, limiting opportunities for non-Hindi-speaking aspirants.
Urging the Tamil Nadu government to further support regional language education, he called upon the Chief Minister to introduce medical and engineering courses in Tamil. He emphasized that such steps would empower students from Tamil-medium backgrounds, ensuring equal access to professional education and fostering linguistic pride.
Shri Amit Shah reiterated the government’s commitment to equipping CISF with cutting-edge technology, enhancing its operational efficiency. He highlighted the implementation of ‘Digi Yatra’ at airports, which has significantly improved passenger screening and reduced security check times.
He also announced the establishment of three new CISF battalions, including an all-women unit, to strengthen security at critical infrastructure projects. He confirmed that upcoming projects like Jewar Airport in Uttar Pradesh and Navi Mumbai Airport in Maharashtra would soon come under CISF protection, ensuring world-class security standards.
Acknowledging the bravery and dedication of CISF personnel, Shri Shah paid tribute to 127 martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. He assured their families that the nation deeply respects and values their sacrifices.
During the event, he presented several prestigious awards, including the President’s Police Medal, Gallantry Medals, and the Jeevan Raksha Medal, recognizing outstanding personnel for their courage and commitment.
Shri Amit Shah also highlighted CISF’s environmental initiatives, noting that over the past five years, the force has planted more than five lakh trees, with a goal of planting three lakh more in the coming year. He praised the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, under which every CISF personnel plants a tree in honor of their mother.
He also launched CISF Cyclothon 2025, a nationwide awareness drive covering coastal villages, culminating at Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanyakumari. The initiative aims to educate communities about security awareness, gather insights for development, and reinforce CISF’s connection with the public.
