NEW DELHI , 24.01.2025– The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, (AHTU) Crime Branch, Sector-16, Rohini, Delhi was formed on 10.03.2014. It is a specialized unit to handle cases related to Human Trafficking, Kidnapping, Abduction, Missing Children, Unclaimed Children, Beggars, Child Labours, and cases related to sexual abuse of children etc. The matters handled by AHTU are monitored by National Human Rights Commission, Delhi Commission for Protection of Child Rights, Delhi Commission for Women and various Courts including Hon’ble Delhi High Court and Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
The following activities are also performed by AHTU Crime Branch:
* Rescue/ rehabilitation of unclaimed children, beggars, child labours,
* Raids in Red light areas to rescue sexually abused minor girls.
* Raids in Industrial areas to rescue minor children working as labour.
* Surveillance over gangs involved in organized child begging.
* Door to door survey of Children’s Homes under operation ‘MILAP’, ‘MUSKAAN’ etc., where children are verified and their whereabouts are traced so that they can be reunited with their parents.
* Human Trafficking issues.
Since the establishment of Anti Human Trafficking Unit Crime Branch (in 2014), thousands of minor/missing children have been traced and reunited with their families. A large number of cases assigned to the AHTU, Crime Branch, Delhi by the Hon’ble Delhi High Court have also been worked out. The Hon’ble High of Delhi vide its various orders in different Writ Petitions has recognized and highly appreciated the work of AHTU of Crime Branch.
In the last five years, AHTU Crime Branch teams have recovered 1442 minor children (1045 girls and 397 boys) & 2013 adults/major, who were reported kidnapped/missing and reunited them with their family. More than 100 Writ Petitions related to Hon’ble High Court were disposed off (after tracing the victims) and total 253 accused have been apprehended during this period.
Under the guidance of Shri Sanjay Arora, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Delhi, in the year 2024, this unit has traced 227 minor missing/kidnapped children and reunited them with their parents. Out of these, 89 children were recovered from different parts of India, outside Delhi. With the recovery of these missing/kidnapped children, more than 150 FIRs registered at different police stations of Delhi have been worked out. Further, 38 accused have also been apprehended and handed over to concerned police stations for further legal action. The above action shows the dedication, professionalism and hardworking nature of this unit.
CERTIFICATION FROM BUREAU OF INDIAN STANDARD:-
In view of the continuous achievements, excellent performance & 10 years of hard work done by this unit to reunite the minor missing children with their loved ones, the team of Anti Human Trafficking Unit of Crime Branch decided to obtain the Certification of Standardisation of its work from the Bureau of Indian Standard. Methods, Procedure, Processes and Technicalities used by the AHTU, Crime Branch, in its working were formalized and documented.
The team under Sh. Vikram Singh, DCP Crime, ACP Arun Chauhan worked relentlessly for last two months to create Standards of Operating Procedures (SOPs), prepare documentation and other tasks under the close supervision of senior officers. The team was successful in standardization of process and procedures of functioning and later documentation of the same.
Thereafter, the BIS official teams performed audits regarding the work process and procedure followed by AHTU Crime Branch, Delhi Police, apart from inspection of records and also interacted with the police officials posted at AHTU Crime Branch.
After thorough audit of the process and the procedure and documentation, the Bureau of Indian Standard granted IS-ISO-9001:2015 certification to the Anti Human trafficking Unit.
Today, on 24-01-2025, Commissioner of Police Shri Sanjay Arora, in the presence of BIS officials presented ISO certificate to AHTU Crime Branch officials. He appreciated and motivated them to perform continuously to successfully achieve the objectives of AHTU with the standardized procedures & processes. He also interacted with the families of a few minor children, recovered by the AHTU Crime Branch and wished them.
