DIS Riverside Student Wins ₹1 Lakh at National Startup League

Doon International School student shines at entrepreneurship competition judged by MP Raghav Chadha

Dehradun: A student from Doon International School, Riverside campus, has secured national recognition after winning ₹1 lakh at the High School Startup League organised by Master’s Union.

Inayat, representing the school, emerged among the top finalists in the entrepreneurship-focused competition that saw participation from an estimated 15,000 to 30,000 students across India. The contest aimed to introduce school students to startup thinking, innovation, and business fundamentals.

After multiple rounds of evaluation, 15 finalists were shortlisted to present their ideas on a national platform. Inayat’s business concept stood out during the final round, which was judged by a panel that included Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha.

The evaluation was based on parameters such as originality, execution, and presentation. Inayat’s performance earned the top recognition along with a ₹1 lakh prize, placing the student among a select group of school-level entrepreneurs progressing through a highly competitive national process.

The participation followed an entrepreneurship workshop conducted by Master’s Union at the school, where students were introduced to concepts like identifying market opportunities, building business models, and pitching ideas.

The High School Startup League reflects a growing trend in education where schools are integrating entrepreneurship into learning. Such initiatives focus on practical skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication, complementing traditional academic curricula.

With increasing participation nationwide, competitions like this are providing students early exposure to the startup ecosystem—offering opportunities to ideate, pitch, and receive feedback from industry professionals and public figures.

Inayat’s achievement highlights how structured programmes and collaborations between schools and external organisations are helping students explore innovation and business thinking at an early stage.
