US Continues 11th Night of Airstrikes on Iran as West Asia Conflict Deepens

The United States has carried out another round of military strikes on Iran, marking the 11th consecutive night of operations amid escalating tensions between the two countries. The latest offensive targeted multiple military installations and logistical facilities that Washington says were linked to Iran’s ability to threaten maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz.

According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the operation concluded on Tuesday evening (US local time). The strikes focused on military command centres, naval assets, aircraft shelters, drone storage sites and logistics infrastructure. US officials said the objective was to weaken Iran’s operational capabilities and reduce potential threats to international commercial shipping passing through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz.

CENTCOM stated that Iran has allegedly carried out attacks on more than 30 commercial vessels in the region during the past three months, disrupting maritime security and endangering civilian shipping. The command also maintained that, despite the ongoing conflict, the Strait of Hormuz remains open for international maritime traffic.

The US military further claimed that its naval presence has helped ensure the safe passage of nearly 900 commercial ships transporting an estimated 450 million barrels of crude oil since early May, underscoring the strategic importance of the waterway to global energy supplies.

Before confirming the completion of the operation, CENTCOM had announced the launch of the strikes through its official communication channels, stating that the mission was intended to further degrade Iran’s military capabilities associated with maritime threats.

Meanwhile, Iranian state broadcaster IRIB reported that several provinces across the country witnessed airstrikes and explosions during the latest wave of attacks. Reports indicated strikes in Chavar and Abdanan in Ilam province, while officials confirmed that the Dinarkoh region had been targeted.

The renewed military escalation follows the collapse of the 14-point memorandum of understanding signed last month between Washington and Tehran. The agreement had been intended to reduce hostilities and revive negotiations over Iran’s nuclear programme while addressing security concerns in the Strait of Hormuz.

With the diplomatic framework now abandoned, both sides have intensified military operations. The United States has expanded strikes on Iranian military infrastructure, while Iran has responded with attacks targeting American military facilities across the Gulf, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict in West Asia.
