Ship Seized Near UAE Coast, Vessel Moves Toward Iranian Waters Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

Crew Reportedly Overpowered as Suspicious Vessel Incident Near Strait of Hormuz Triggers Security Alert

A major maritime security scare unfolded near the eastern coastline of the UAE after a commercial vessel was reportedly boarded and taken control of by unidentified individuals. According to maritime monitoring authorities, the ship later altered its course and began moving in the direction of Iranian territorial waters.

The incident took place close to the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s busiest oil shipping routes. Reports indicate the vessel was stationed roughly 70 kilometres northeast of Fujairah port when the suspected hijacking occurred.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO), which monitors security threats in regional waters, confirmed it had received information about unauthorised persons gaining control of the ship. However, officials have not yet disclosed the name or nationality of the vessel involved.

Security agencies are currently assessing the situation while regional naval forces continue to closely monitor maritime movement in the Gulf area. The latest development has once again raised concerns over shipping safety and geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.

Authorities have urged commercial ships operating nearby to remain cautious and immediately report any suspicious activity.
