Himachal Governor Kavinder Gupta Releases Book on Sharda Peeth and Kashmir Heritage

NEW DELHI: Governor of Himachal Pradesh Kavinder Gupta today released the book “Sharda Peeth – Sati Desh Kashmir” authored by Acharya Madan, President of Vishwa Hindu Peeth, New Delhi.

Describing the book as an important scholarly work documenting the ancient spiritual, cultural and educational legacy of Jammu and Kashmir, the Governor said that Sharda Peeth has been one of the greatest symbols of Bharat’s civilizational glory and an eternal centre of knowledge, wisdom and Sanatan tradition.

The Governor appreciated the efforts of Acharya Madan for bringing forth a research-oriented publication that highlights the historical, religious and cultural importance of Sharda Peeth and its deep connection with Kashmir’s identity. He said that such literature plays a vital role in reconnecting the younger generation with the rich heritage of the nation.

Kavinder Gupta observed that Kashmir has historically been a revered seat of learning and spirituality, and Sharda Peeth occupied a place of immense respect among scholars, saints and seekers from across the Indian subcontinent. He said the book presents valuable insights into the glorious past of Kashmir, the Sharda civilization, Sanskrit scholarship and the ancient traditions associated with Maa Sharda.

He expressed hope that the book would inspire meaningful academic discourse and encourage deeper study of Kashmir’s ancient heritage and spiritual traditions.

Speaking on the occasion, Acharya Madan said that the book is an attempt to bring before society the historical and cultural significance of Sharda Peeth and revive awareness about one of the most revered centres of knowledge in ancient India. He also emphasized the need for preserving the cultural identity and historical legacy associated with Sharda civilization.

Prominent scholars, intellectuals and devotees associated with Sharda Hindu Peeth, Jasbir Singh Khurana and Sanjay Kumar Maini were present on the occasion.
